Holidays

The holidays can be tough for fitness.

Our routines are thrown off. We’re traveling, staying up late, drinking and eating more than usual.

With all these changes, our typical exercise routine can take a back seat.

And that’s okay!

The question to ask ourselves is, how do we want to adapt?

If you’d enjoy taking a break from exercise, and you know that you’ll be able to jump right back into your regular routine after the holidays, then just relax!

If you get jumpy without enough physical activity, or you’ve historically had trouble getting back into routines after letting them slip, then think about ways to incorporate fitness into your holiday plans.

Maybe you can go for a walk every day.

Or use your hotel’s gym.

Or do jumping jacks in your childhood bedroom for 5 minutes.

Over the holidays, I’ll probably skip a couple workouts because I won’t want to leave my house.

But I do want to get some cardio in, so I’ll likely take one or two at-home dance classes (the Zumba app and Steezy are my go-tos.)

What’s your fitness plan for the holidays?
