Basics

Before the new year, I talked about how to make new year’s resolutions attainable. But what should your resolution be?

If you’re looking for a health and wellness goal, my advice is to review a couple broad categories to see where there’s room for improvement.

First, fruits and vegetables. Are you eating them with every meal? Are you eating a variety? Fruits and vegetables of different colors provide different nutrients.

Second, water. Are you drinking it throughout the day?

Third, protein. Are you having it with every meal?

Fourth, movement. Are you taking breaks to walk around? Are you lifting weights? Are you challenging your heart with cardio?

The amount of fruits, vegetables, water, protein, and movement you need will depend on your body size and level of activity. But if your answer to any of the above questions is “no,” adding any amount of these things into your life is a great place to start.
