Improv

Trying new things is scary. But sometimes, when you try something new, you’ll discover a passion.

Although I was shy in college, one of my RAs, who was a member of the school’s improv comedy group, saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. He encouraged me to try out for the Haverford College Lighted Fools.

I’d never performed improv comedy before, but I was honored. Unlike a lot of people, I think it’s really cool.

I experienced a new feeling during the audition – freedom from judgment. It’s weird to say, because I was literally being judged. But any positive or negative thoughts the audience had were directed toward my performing self, not the real me.

I’ve now been in the world of improv comedy for over 15 years. It’s been my primary source of community and friendship over that time, and it’s helped me grow as a person.

If I hadn’t been willing to go way outside my comfort zone in college, I never would have discovered improv comedy, and my life would be worse.

A lot of Rozzie Fitness members have been through a similar journey.

They went outside their comfort zones, took a risk, and joined a gym. Now, working out is a source of accomplishment, satisfaction, and joy in their lives.

So, what are you waiting for? Your next passion could be right around the corner if you’re willing to give it a chance.
