Core values

At Rozzie Fitness, we have 5 core values that guide our approach to personal training and business. We try to live by these values every day, so we wanted to share them with you.

1. We meet people where they’re at

Fitness is personal and vulnerable, and many people have negative associations with it. It’s also not a one-size-fits-all situation. Different people need and want different things from personal training. We want everyone who tries Rozzie Fitness to feel comfortable and like we’ve heard them.

Before we start training someone, we talk with them about what they’re hoping to get out of personal training and what, if anything, they’ve done for exercise in the past. Then we tailor their workout program to meet their goals.

We also check in with every member at the beginning of each session to see how they’re feeling, because everyone’s capacity for working out changes by the day, if not by the hour. If they’re having a rough day or are feeling extra sore or tired, we'll suggest that they take it easy or do a low-intensity recovery workout. If they’re feeling energized, we’ll encourage them to push themselves.

2. We foster community

For many people, exercising with others is a fantastic motivator. You’re more likely to go to the gym if you’re excited to see the people there, and you’re more likely to work hard if the people around you are working hard, too.

We also try to give back to the community outside Rozzie Fitness. We have a platform as a local small business, and we want to use it to promote causes we believe in. That’s why we hold charity classes and other free workouts.

3. We value open and honest communication

Personal training works best when the trainer and member are open and honest with each other. If we think an exercise is too easy or too hard for someone, we’ll say so. And we hope our members will tell us if something about their experience feels off – or if something feels great!

4. We believe in ourselves

We want the Rozzie Fitness team and our members to feel like they can do hard things. Many of us have been taught from a young age that we’re “bad at sports” or “unathletic.” At Rozzie Fitness, we try to reverse that image and help our members see how strong and resilient they are.

5. We love to learn and grow

So we can give our members the best possible experience, the Rozzie Fitness team is constantly learning through certifications and other continuing education. We hope our enthusiasm for fitness encourages members to feel excited about new exercises.
